But, more importantly, Honda has reworked the crank of its 2010 Fireblade to produce a similar feel to the Yamaha R1's crossplane crankshaft. The crank has a greater inertial mass, but, by using lightweight components elsewhere in the 999cc engine, there's no overall increase in weight.

The Fireblade's smaller sibling, the CBR600RR, is also updated with a range of stunning new colours - a sporty Tricolour scheme celebrating the CBR's championshipwinning heritage, and two Graphite Black schemes - Graphite Black/mono-black and Graphite Black/Victory Red.

Next year is going to be a big year for Honda's cruiser range with the unveiling of the new Shadow VT750 Black Spirit - a variation on the Shadow Spirit which harks back to the original custom cruiser machine, the "bobber".

Honda's new Black Spirit gets a 52[bar], fuel-injected V-twin engine and maintenance-free shaft-drive. The bike's minimalist styling echoes the original custom motorcycles of the 1950s.

The Black Spirit's VT750CS Shadow sibling comes with the option of Honda's Combined ABS system for 2010. The Shadow mirrors the timeless American cruiser style in its design, but, despite this classic look, the addition of C-ABS brings the latest in braking technology to the machine for improved safety.
